About Botswana

Botswana is an unspoiled land of timeless beauty - striking salt pans, diamond-rich deserts, fertile flood plains, vast grasslands, and flatlands punctuated with dramatic rocky outcrops. Our country's natural appeal lies in our stunning and seemingly endless wilderness, prolific wildlife, cultural diversity, and welcoming people.

Botswana is truly one of Africa's top safari destinations, teeming with game and bird-life,
thanks in large part to a strong commitment to wildlife protection and management and environmental conservation. We are home to the world renowned Okavango Delta, Kalahari Desert, the Chobe National Park and Moremi Game Reserve, where animals roam freely and offer our visitors superb safari experiences.

A landlocked country about the size of Texas, Botswana is located in the heart of southern Africa. Our country is bordered by Zambia and Zimbabwe to the northeast, Namibia to the north and west, and South Africa to the south and southeast.

Stable and prosperous, Botswana has blossomed since independence from Britain in 1966. We are Africa's longest continuous democracy and one of the world's biggest diamond producers. Today, our country enjoys a high standard of economic stability, education and health care; making Botswana truly one of Africa's lasting success stories... and a great place to visit!
