Sample Itineraries

Botswana offers the visitor a complete African Safari or vacation. This wild and beautiful country is one of the few places in Africa that remains completely unspoiled and animals roam freely.

There's so much to see and do in Botswana, you could return year after year and never experience the same vacation twice.

Northern Botswana is the best known and developed tourism region in Botswana and most North American visitors fly into Maun, Botswana’s main tourism “hub” town, from Johannesburg, South Africa. From Maun, the visitor has easy access to the Okavango Delta, Moermi Game Reserve, Linyanti region, Northern Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Makgadikgadi Pans and Nxai Pan National Parks, and Chobe National Park.

Alternatively, if a visit to Victoria Falls is on one’s vacation wish list, fly into Kasane, take a day trip to the Falls (just 2 hours away by land and ferry, then return to visit Chobe National Park before flying into Maun.

For the best Botswana safari experience it is recommended that visitors spend some time at a 'water' camp and some time at a 'land' camp. The focus at the water camps is on traditional Mokoro canoe safaris, while at the land camps the majority of activities are conducted in open, safari vehicles or on guided walking excursions.

More remote but well worth the travel time are the Tuli Nature Reserve in far eastern Botswana, bordering South Africa and Zimbabwe, and at the other extreme, Tsodilo Hills, in far Northwest in close proximity to the Namibia Caprivi Strip.

Ideally, to really explore and appreciate each destination in Botswana, at minimum, 2 nights in each location.

Here are some ideas to get ou started planning the perfect safari vacation for you. Sample itineraries are for the land only portion; remember to add an overnight flight each way if departing from North America.
